He said that his close friends knew him by that and he went by brother for so long that he didn't see why he should give it up. I met Fr. Robert ...Thank you for this remembrance. I met Fr. Robert while attending Fordham University in the mid 1980's, in an Italian language class. He was a great comfort to me, a good friend, and could always make me laugh. I still carry his Fordham graduation photo, on the back of which he wrote a blessing and verse from 1 John, all in Italian!<br /><br />As I had met him years before he was ordained to the priesthood, I was so used to calling him Brother Bob that it was hard to make the transition to "Father Bob."
